As a single 27-year-old woman, purchasing and renovating my old Lisbon apartment was a defining moment in my life. It was a dream I had always held close, but I never thought I would be able to achieve it on my own. However, with determination, creativity, and the support of my family, I was able to turn this space into my dream home.

The journey began when I stumbled upon a 3-bedroom apartment in a quiet and park-filled neighborhood. Despite its need for some TLC, the natural light that filled the space was just what I was looking for. I knew immediately that I had to make it mine, even though I didn’t have much money to spend.

The renovations process was not an easy one. We started with painting the walls, fixing the floors, and installing new lighting fixtures. My family and I worked tirelessly to bring this space to life. But with a little bit of creativity and a lot of elbow grease, we were able to turn the apartment into a beautiful and functional home.

Lessons Learned from Renovating a Old Lisbon Apartment: A Woman’s Journey

Early on in the renovation process, I received an unexpected invitation from Tania Carvalho, a wedding photographer with a passion for portraits. Tania had stumbled upon my renovation project on social media and was immediately drawn to the idea of documenting the proces

Tania’s keen eye for detail and her ability to capture the beauty in everyday moments resulted in a stunning collection of photos that I will treasure for years to come.

One of the biggest lessons I learned from this experience was the importance of being resourceful. There are so many amazing second-hand finds available if you know where to look, and with a little bit of creativity and patience, you can turn these finds into something truly special. For instance, we found some amazing second-hand furniture on Facebook Marketplace and in the trash, and we were able to create a home that was both beautiful and functional.

Another lesson I learned was the importance of having a support system. Without the help of my family, I don’t know if I would have been able to complete the renovations. It was a true team effort, and I am grateful for their support and encouragement throughout the entire process.
